Review of Lemon Grove, California

Lemon Grove
Star Rating - 10/8/2009
Years ago Lemon Grove was a small, rural community with older residents and a very small town feel. The homes have become run down and due to lower housing prices the town has changed from a family community to many group homes and druggies. The area offers large lot sizes compared to the average in San Diego County and is somewhat centrally located for East County. It only takes 15 minutes to get to Downtown San Diego. Most parts of Lemon Grove have no sidewalks, powerlines are above ground, and the reminents of the rural community it once was are still apparent.

Obviously the previous person never lived in LemonGrove but Lemon grove has been my home for over 30 years and I have loved the friendly small town atmosphere. Sure we have some pockets of issues like any other town but I sure like walking my streets and having conversations with my neighbors and city personnel. I feel safe. Lemon Grove is a sleepy little town struggling in the shadows of La Mesa but it has a unique laid back feeling. You can’t judge a community by its numbers— you need to live there and get a feeling for the community around you.
